Nail nostalgia.

Chanels new polish called Riva is a really pretty baby blue and reminds me of my first favorite nail polish which was made by Sweet Georgia Brown. In fourth grade none of the other girls were allowed to paint their nails yet, but i smuggled it onto the playground and did a few manis anyway.

I think that is my earliest nail related memory… would love to hear if anyone else had any!

I do have a first nail memory — while I was hanging out with friends on a school campus, I painted a pebble in the granite sidewalk completely over with Chanel “Ciel de Nuit”. I felt like such a vandal, which of course is silly because it was just a small rock. I wonder if it’s still there! This was like mid to late 90s — it’s probably been repaved!

Chanel Khaki shades…

…are up on the website!

I got an email at about 11:20 am, and now their site is slow. 

12:40 - I called Chanel, and they are unable to process orders online or by phone. The system is slow because of these very nail polishes! They suggested I try again in 45 minutes or get them from a standalone boutique — at or after 6:00 pm.

LATEST: 12:45 - I just ordered them by phone from Seattle Nordstrom: (206) 628-2111, ask for Chanel cosmetics!

Quick review of new Maybelline colors

I bought 4 of the fall colors from Maybelline. Quick impressions:

• the dark green looks a lot like Zoya “Envy” but less blue - it was okay (I wanted it to be more saturated!)
• the grey, “Gray T Glamour”, has a cool name and a hint of shimmer but looked horrible on my (NC15 & tanned) skin
• the metallic black cherry looked great with Seche Vite  -vampy, luxe
• the plum color was pretty, but not standout - darker than it looks in the bottle though (bottom right)

I don’t love the Maybelline Express Finish formula and I never have. It dries a little too quickly to go on evenly, thick or thin. Wish the green had wowed me! 

Do labels ruin a photo?

I’m trying to decide whether to write lacquerista on mine. Not right in the middle — I hate when people do that. Just at the bottom. Sometimes I think it just takes away from the simplicity of the photo to the point where it’s not worth it. Is it just me?
